Ever since I made a “paaskran” last Easter (learn more about it in this post), I’ve been intrigued with all nature-inspired Easter decorations. So this year I’m making simple egg carton Easter displays, filled with moss, egg shell candles, and other beautiful finds. I especially love the fact that as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus, we can enjoy these symbolic reminders of all the beauty of God’s creation.

supplies needed:
- paper egg carton
- eggs – brown and white
- egg shell candles (see my tutorial for these here)
- fresh flowers & greenery
- grapevine twigs (optional)
- candy or other treats
step 1 – make egg shell candles
You will need several eggs, both brown and white, to use for egg shell candles. Break the shells in half and save the yolk and whites in the refrigerator to use for a recipe (I hate to see food go to waste!) Then rinse the shells out thoroughly and put them aside to dry.
Once completely dry, refer to my tutorial on how to transform them into candles. Put a few of the shells aside to use later as broken shards when assembling the display.
step 2 – fill the cartons
Take an empty paper egg carton and carefully tear off the lid, then tear the base in half. The torn edges lend a free-spirited flair to the vignette. Fill a few of the pockets with moss. Then add one or two egg shell candles and a few sprigs of flowers or greenery.
Now you can personalize it with more finds, such as candy or trinkets. For the first display, I added two chocolate candies, a broken shell with a flower, and a circle of grapevine twigs.
For the second carton, I used more natural elements, such as leaves and feathers. I also love placing shards of broken shells against the moss.
These egg carton Easter displays are easy to make and are wonderful additions to an Easter tablescape.

I love these, Wendy. I decorate with egg cartons all year round; they have such great texture and simplicity. Love the still life idea and want to make those candles!
Thanks Lora
