I once heard fashion defined as a world of fabulous contradictions. How true! I was reminded of this definition when I went out to dinner recently with my family. My son’s girlfriend wore the cutest outfit. (So cute, in fact, I insisted on snapping a few photos of her before dinner.) The best way to describe her attire is an elegant romper. I know what you’re thinking. How can a romper be elegant? Everything about the concept of an adult onesie screams playful, whimsical, run-around-and-have-fun. But Lilly proved me wrong. She wore an adorable playsuit in a summery romantic print. Made from chiffon, the fabric draped her silhouette beautifully, and the detailing on the back gave it an air of sophistication. And get this – it’s machine washable!
So here’s the deal. Fashion can – and should be – surprising and creative. This flowing, romantic playsuit is a perfect example. But here’s what surprised me even more. This British retailer is a wonderful little secret. They tend to specialize in plus sizes, but once again another contradiction… Lilly usually wears a size 4, but JD Williams’ size 10 fit her to a tee.
