When it comes to Christmas, I’m rarely into red & green, and I’m almost NEVER into traditional. However, even though my children are grown now, I still love the idea of an advent calendar. The visual learner I am, I love an artsy Christmas countdown reminder!
I started this wall calendar last year, as I was inspired to use remnants of a canvas paint dropcloth. But I only got as far as the pockets. Then my creative muse just vanished. Like that. So back into the closet it went.
This year, I approached it with fresh eyes, and I decided to cut numbers out of fabric tape. Very rustic ones, mind you, so the project began to take on a Bohemian feel. I then added wooden dowels (for hanging presents).
Then I added the gifts, simply wrapped in tissue paper.
There you go. My grownup version of a funky advent calendar, with pockets large enough for bottles of wine.
I love the simplicity of this advent calendar. Plus, it has bigger pockets so I could put multiple treats for each of my kids inside. Thank you for linking up your post at the #HomeMattersParty. We hope to have you join us again, the door is open Friday at midnight EST.
Thanks Nicole!
This looks like a neat idea.
Thank you for sharing this with us on the #HomeMattersParty. We hope to see you again when we open our doors on Friday at 12 AM EST.
Sure! And thanks for stopping by!
Love it and really love the fact that the pockets are big enough for bottles of wine. However I’m just as happy with smaller pockets and miniatures of gin !
lol!
