Looking for a simple decoration for Valentine’s Day? If you have some twine and fabric remnants, you can make these sweet homespun boho heart tassels. Then tie one around bottle of wine you’re gifting to a friend, use it to adorn a package, or simply hang one from a door handle.

supplies needed:
- fabric remnants
- twine
- embroidery needle & thread
- pillow stuffing or yarn scraps
step 1 – fabric heart
Download this paper heart to use as a template, then cut two hearts from fabric.
With wrong sides together, machine-stitch around the edges of the fabric heart, leaving an opening on one side, as shown below.
Next, add the heart to your next load of laundry. Once washed and dried, the edges will fray, creating a homespun boho feel. Stuff the heart with batting, cotton, or leftover scraps of yarn, then stitch the opening closed.
step 2 – twine tassel
With twine, make a tassel. Refer to this previous tutorial for instructions. Trim the bottom to desired length.
step 3 – attach tassel to heart
With an embroidery needle and thread (knotted at the bottom), run the needle up through the center of the tassel (photo 2). Then run the needle through the bottom of the fabric heart (photo 3); secure it with a tight knot on the back (4).
These boho heart tassels are a great way to use up fabric scraps. And they add a creative handmade touch to your Valentine’s Day festivities.
The biggest compliment is a little share – pin the photo below!

These hearts are so sweet, what a great way to use a small scrap of precious fabric. The chunky tassels are fabulous.
