As much as I’d like to take credit for whipping these two adorable burlap easter flags up over the weekend, I can’t. I designed them – a couple years ago! – but because they’re so cute, they’ve earned a spot in My French Twist‘s photo gallery. I love them!

I originally designed these to add to the It’s a Wrap product line, a wholesale gift company I owned and operated for 7 years. They measure approximately 12″ x 18″ – the perfect size to hang on a garden flag post, but I prefer to hang them on a door. What sweeter way to welcome spring than with these free-spirited little flags?
The cross design is simply a fabric applique stitched onto home decor fabric in a chevron print. The fabric is doubled, of course, to create a casing. The edges are hem-stitched with a serger. If using them as wall hangings, simply slide a small dowel rod through the casing. Use burlap ribbon to finish off the design.
The bunny flag is also a cotton fabric applique, but I switched to chenille for the tail.
I no longer have little ones awaiting peeps for their Easter baskets, but I do have grown sons who will definitely stop by hoping for a homecooked meal. And not only will they find one of these burlap easter flags on my front door, they’ll find their childhood bunny village displayed too! This is just what moms do.
These are so cute that I want to make some. -Jenny
