carabiner climbing bracelet

Always one to accessorize, I wasn’t about to let my new obsession with rock climbing go without proper attention to wardrobe. After a day of scaling walls, I might be covered in chalk and dirt, but I will always have on a cute pair of earrings. And now that I’ve learned to make this adjustable carabiner climbing bracelet, I’ll be donning it as well.

supplies needed:

  • #275 (2mm) paracord
  • 28mm carabiner
  • lighter and scissors
  • charms with jump rings (optional)

instructions

(1) Cut an 18″ piece of 2mm paracord. You can make it a bit longer, but this size fits most, as it is adjustable. (2) Loop the piece through one end of a carabiner. (See photos below.)

To make an adjustable sliding knot, follow these steps (refer to corresponding photos below):

(3) Grasp the cord that’s lying on top about 5″ from the end & fold it back towards the carabiner. (You do not need tape, as shown in photo. I used it solely for photography purposes. You can hold the cords together with your hand.)

(4) Use your free hand to loop the top working cord down in front of the back cords.

(5) Then run the cord under & back up around the other two cords.

(6) Loop the working cord down, around & back up two more times. Note that you’re moving away from the loop on the left, not toward it.

(7) Now run the end of the working cord through the loop to your left.

(8) Tighten knot by pulling the end of the working cord while gently nudging the wrapped knot towards the left.

(9) Snip the tip of the working cord. (10) Then singe the tip slightly with a lighter to seal it and prevent fraying.

You can make this carabiner climbing bracelet for both guys and girls. The knots slide to adjust the size.

Add charms, beads, even buttons to the carabiner for extra pizzazz.
