I always love adding handmade touches to my seasonal decor. And these little pinecones fashioned from paper and foam balls are a perfect accent for Fall. And did I say how easy they are to make?

step 1 – shape the ball
Using a knife, carve one end of the foam ball into an egg shape. If using a Styrofoam ball instead of a hard foam one, a microplane (used for zesting lemons) works great.
step 2 – cover with paper
Punch 1.5″ circles from craft paper. Using a hot glue gun, adhere circles in a layered fashion to the small end of the ball, forming a slight point. Then continue adding rows of layered circles until the ball is covered.
These pinecones can be made in an array of colors, from festive gold and silver to whimsical orange and crimson. Use your imagination! Use these paper pinecones to hold place cards at your Thanksgiving table or display them simply in a bowl of evergreen foliage. They add a sweet homespun look to the season.
