DIY photo tray - my french twist

Sometimes you just don’t know what to give a person. That’s when it’s best to search for a gift with sentiment, something that will be cherished and can’t be purchased from a store. The concept of a photo tray is nothing new, but oozing your own funky twist into the design can breathe fresh life into this traditional concept.

I purchased a white lacquer tray with a removable bottom. Once unscrewing the bottom panel, I was able to remove it, along with the glass top. I then created a scrapbook page using black & white photos, mostly of my 5 siblings and me. The middle photo is of my mother and her cousin, taken circa 1942. I added some playful fringe, a beautiful quote, and an old locket that was given to my mother when she was just a little girl.

I turned the tray over, replaced the glass, then my scrapbook page, then the tray bottom. Screwed it tightly closed and voila! A photo tray that is a practical and pretty gift.
