In this surreal season of Covid 19, the internet is brimming with mask-making tutorials. Awesome, isn’t it? But unfortunately not all of the patterns are easy to follow. Ingenuity matters, but right now folks just want a simple blueprint for whipping up some homemade masks to keep their loved ones safe. I know this because I’m one of them. Okay, I did make myself a designer pug mask, but for the rest of my friends and family, I wanted quick & easy solutions. So I’ve gathered the mask tutorials I previously posted, with simple and easy-to-follow instructions.

masks with elastic
After trying several patterns for masks with elastic strips that fit over the ears, I came up with my own version that is both simple and quick to sew.
You can also adapt this pattern a bit by substituting very thin rolled elastic for the narrow elastic in the photos above. Some people prefer this type of elastic.
masks with ties
I personally prefer wearing masks with elastic loops, but my friend who is a nurse requested one with ties, because wearing them all day made her ears sore. So, here’s the easiest way I found to add ties to the masks – sew the mask using the tutorial above, but do not add elastic. Instead, simply stitch a long piece of double-folded bias tape across the top and bottom of the mask. That’s it!
masks with headbands
Just when I thought my mask making duties were over, another friend asked me to make her some that attached to headbands. You can check out my easy tutorial for the headbands here.
I hope this has helped if you are looking for an easy mask pattern. But I can’t let you go just yet…. not until I show you my pug mask. Just humor me, will you?
The biggest compliment is a little share – pin the photo below!
These are very beautiful face mask and this is the only methods to convince kids to wear face masks. They like animation and design on it.

Thanks Wendy. I love your tutorials.
You have made some very nice things and I appreciate the easy to follow instructions. As a nurse I want you to know, it is VERY important the face covering fits snuggly on the face, including over the nose and no gaos on the sides. Otherwise, your breath escapes and/or others’ is let in. Keep sewing, stay safe.
Good to know!
