Talk about a bunch of complicated stuff packed into a sentence or two, 2 Thessalonians blows my mind. The Great Apostasy? The falling away of Christians from the church? The reveal of the son of perdition? I scoured endless commentaries on this and still found no single explanation. What I did find, however, is a repeated command to hold fast to the truth. Don’t worry. Hold fast to the truth. And just keep believing.
“God…chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:13. We may not understand everything we read in the Bible. There are passages open to different interpretations. But if we believe the Bible is indeed the word of God, then we can rest easy, even in our confusion. Don’t worry. Hold fast to the truth. And just keep believing.
