Sometimes less is more. In decorating, that is. But certainly not in praying. It has been on my heart lately to discipline myself more to pray for others. You check out my recent post on intercessory prayer, if you’d like. But you know me. Like many artists, I’m a visual learner. So what better way to remind myself to pray for someone’s need everyday than with a funky little prayer jar. And since I can’t begin a single.day without a very necessary cup of coffee, what better place to keep it than right beside my Keurig.
I’ve recently learned to etch onto glass. My first attempt wasn’t perfect, but it did confirm what I already believed about etching. It is a subtle but elegant way to label. And of course, Hobby Lobby & Michaels make it easy for anyone to do it with just a small jar of etching cream. So I brought out an old mason jar, applied some letter stencils, and followed the instructions on the etching cream container. Then I gave it a little bohemian flair with some ribbons and buttons. Voila!
I’m inviting my family & friends to write their requests on slips of brown kraft paper (I like the dark contrast in the clear jar… visual, right?) Now everyday I’ll grab a request from the prayer jar along with my cup of Joe and spend some time with God.
Oh, I’m so glad you found my blog!
I’m taking advantage of an “empty nest” and settling into middle-aged life by learning things I haven’t had time to learn before. I’m ecstatic that I found your uplifting informative website that’s practically filled with goodies! I look forward to trying your projects. I’ve recently begun to learn macrame and I’m becoming more confident with each “knot” I learn. Navigating your information has me excited to get started on just about any of your projects! I appreciate, too, that you are comfortable writing about things like prayer. That makes me more comfortable being here! Thank you for the tutorials, the easy to read and understand instructions, and the expert advice on things like cords. I’m definitely bookmarking and will be returning often!
