They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Just look at that sweet embroidered flower above. So simple, yet so lovely. This is my March craft challenge.
I recently learned to embroider with ribbon at one of my craft club meet-ups, and it is surprisingly easy. At least beginning designs aren’t so difficult. All you need is a needle (I used a chenille needle, but you can learn more about the needles here), ribbon, and an embroidery hoop. And your fabric, of course! Start by practicing the simplest stitches, then once you get the hang of it, let your imagination go wild. If you don’t have a friend to teach you the basics, check out this class from Craftsy.com.
I’ve rounded up some beautiful embroidery projects to whet your appetite.
If you take the March craft challenge, please send photos of your finished project along with your website or any information you’d like to share. Send it to myfrenchtwist@aol.com.
I love embroidery and often doodle with stitches, but I tend to use threads or wool not ribbon. I’ll have to give the ribbon ago. The snowdrops are gorgeous.
Thanks Cllaire! I haven’t yet decided my ribbon project, thinking of a pillow…
