It’s pretty cool when friends marvel at your creativity, but it’s dangerous, too. You get roped in to doing all sorts of favors. Decorate a wedding foyer, paint a theatrical backdrop, and in this case – design a trade show booth. Sliding barn doors are a hot trend, and they are surprisingly easy to make. Here you can see a very simple wooden door I had built by a handyman. Painted it bright yellow. Ordered the sliding track hardware off the internet (just google “barn door hardware.”) And voila! Since the booth was for a painting company at a Home & Garden show, I ordered two large posters (30″ x 72″ each) from Vista Print and adhered them to the wall with mounting tape. Slide the door to the right and showcase a home exterior, then slide it to the left to reveal an interior vignette. The message? This painting company tackles both interior AND exterior jobs! There are countless ways to customize this for your own home. You could even hang an old weathered door to the track. I have to admit, it made a very popular focal point to a simple trade show booth.
