I haven’t been reviewing all the books I’ve been reading this summer (oops, sorry), but this one definitely deserves a mention. My Sunshine Away. This debut novel by M.O.Walsh did not disappoint. If you like a good mystery, read it. If you like a poignant coming-of-age tale, read it. If you like a bit of crime and gore, read it. But mostly, if you like southern fiction – reminiscent of the writings of Pat Conroy and William Faulkner – with words and phrases that wrap themselves around your imagination and pull you into a thick Louisiana afternoon, READ IT.
