Making a pillow cover is easy. Making a pillow cover unique is a bit trickier. That’s why, when I decided to embroider the name of our beach house onto a pillow, I remembered I had a portion of an old sailcloth stashed away. Why not recycle it into a pillow cover?
The process was simple. I first embroidered the name, Sans Souci (which means “no worries” in French) onto the sailcloth. I wanted both the blue and white parts of the sail to show and thought the original zig zag stitchiing added some authenticity to it. Then I seamed the front of the cover to the back and added a foam pillow insert.
I initially wanted to put the house name onto a plaque of some sort, but no inspiration hit me. Now I’m glad I waited; I prefer this unexpected pillow to a traditional sign any day!
Great pillow and I love that it’s from sailcloth. The stitching really makes it, so unique. Thanks for linking up with us at Waste Not Wednesday Link Party!
Thanks Toni!
It’s so cool! I think recycle and your recycled sailcloth pillow will give a hand to minimize pollution
Thanks!
