My French Twist is officially one year old this month! I would say all I’ve learned about blogging (SEO, HTML, photography, & lots more!) is outweighed only by all I’ve learned about myself. I’m sure most lifestyle bloggers would agree with me that keeping these online diaries gives us insights into ourselves we otherwise wouldn’t receive. It’s a type of self-awareness. So although I hope my readers have been enriched in some small ways by My French Twist, I know that I have learned from it. I thought it would be fun to share my top five posts from 2016. Here goes…

#1 What i learned my first year of downsizing

downsizing - myfrenchtwist.com

Selling our 7,000 square foot home and moving into a tiny urban condo was the most profound step I took in my quest to simplify my life. And, wow. Did I learn a lot. Among the many lessons, I learned the joy of  spending money on experiences rather than things.

#2 how to make a paracord belt

I have to agree with my readers. This was one of the coolest projects I made last year. Also one of the most time-consuming! I made this belt from paracord for one of my sons, and it was a big hit.

#3 made – xray light fixture

pendant light from xrays - my french twist

The paracord belt may have been cool, but this hanging pendant light made from human x-rays is the funkiest project I’ve ever made! Not only is it functional, but it’s a definite conversation piece. I love it!

#4 easy to knit neckwarmer

I’m rather surprised this post made my top 5 posts, because it’s such a simple little project. I learned to knit last year, so I tackled some pretty easy beginner projects, such as this neckwarmer. It is, however, very sweet.

#5 setting up a realistic christmas village

my christmas village

Awe…remembering this project makes me smile. I crafted a small replica of my city, using my Department 56 collection. A miniature village through the eyes of a child is magical.

Hope you enjoyed looking back at my top 5 posts. My first year of blogging has been so special, so a big heart-felt thank you to those of you who visited My French Twist!
