upcycled turkish towel waist apron

Recently I published a post on how to make three adorable aprons, all different styles, from one Turkish bath towel. You can see that post (which includes a tutorial for the bib apron) here. Now I’m going to show you just easy it is to make the second of these three aprons – an upcycled Turkish towel waist apron. (The third tutorial for an easy boho half apron can be seen here.)

preparation

After making a bib apron from a Turkish bath towel, you are left with several towel remnants. Of those, use one strip measuring 4″ x 66″. Also use the largest leftover piece with tassels. Now cut 17″ up from the tasseled bottom of that large piece; use this 17″ x 30″ piece for the waist apron body. (Remember, save all leftover remnants for the third apron in this series!)

step 1 – hem side seams

Fold over both side edges of this 17″ x 30″ piece & press. Then fold over again and pin in place. Stitch down. Press.

step 2 – attach waistband

Now place the long 4″ x 66″ strip on top of the apron body, with right sides together, and pin together. Make sure the edges and centers are aligned. See photo below. Stitch together along the top edge.

Flip to the backside and press the seam allowance up; also press the entire bottom edge of the strip up.

Now fold the waistband over and pin in place as shown below. Stitch down.

It’s as easy as that; you’re done! This upcycled Turkish towel waist apron with sassy cabana stripes is ready to get to work!

The biggest compliment is a little share – pin the photo below!

  1. This is lovely and so simple to make too, bonus! I love the way you used the fringe at the bottom.
